On 6 May 2016, a commemorative event dedicated to the Queen Mother Elena of Romania, who was awarded with the title of righteous among nations for saving thousands of Jews during WWII, took place at the Choral Temple in Bucharest.
From 23-26 May 2016 the IHRA is holding its first bi-annual Plenary meeting under the Romanian Chairmanship in Bucharest.
From 18 to 22 of April 2016, the National Institute for the Study of the Holocaust in Romania „Elie Wiesel” joined the initiative of the Romanian Ministry of Education to organize a series of non-formal activities on Holocaust remembrance.
The Forgotten Voices Conference, organised by the European Roma and Travellers Forum in cooperation with the Council of Europe took place from Wednesday 6 to Thursday 7 April 2016 in the Romanian Parliament in Bucharest, Romania.
