On Monday, 11 March 2013, the Jewish community in Skopje marked the 70th anniversary of the deportation of 7,144 Jews.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day was commemorated with a variety of events in Skopje and Bitola on 27 January 2012.

On 19 April 2012, the date of Yom Hashoah, a conference entitled "The Contributions of Jewish Scientists to Turkish Universities" was held in Bahçeşehir University Istanbul.

The "Portugal and the Holocaust" conference is being held on 29-30 October 2012 at the Calouste Gulbenkian's Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal.

The conference's goal is to increase the body of academic knowledge, promote an understanding of the Holocaust and Portugal's role during that period, and to support Holocaust education in Portugal.

This conference brings together leading American, Portuguese, and other European specialists, scholars, and educators in the field.
