On 5 May the government of Ireland helped launch a Holocaust education project for children.

As a member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, Ireland is committed to the Declaration of the Stockholm International Forum on the Holocaust (2000) and the implementation of national policies and programmes in support of Holocaust education, remembrance and research.
Ireland became a full member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance in December 2011. Prior to this Ireland was an observer country to the Alliance from December 2007, progressing to liaison country status in June 2009.
Dublin-based Holocaust survivor, Tomi Reichental, has been presented with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the German Ambassador, Dr Eckhard Lubkemeier, on behalf of the German government.
