Call for Papers for Conference: Urban Jewish Heritage - Presence and Absence to be held from 3-7 September 2018 in Krakow, Poland as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
Over the centuries, cities across Europe and around the world have been impacted by their Jewish communities; as places of both presence and absence. The touristic presentation of Jewish heritage in many cities belies long and diffi cult histories but nevertheless recognition through the protection, conservation and interpretation of this heritage is of increasing importance.
"Medical Review – Auschwitz” available online

31 volumes of “Medical Review - Auschwitz” have been made available online by the Cracow Medical Society. The collection comprises all original volumes of writings, selected articles in English, and the 1962 volume in three language versions (German, French and Russian) The State Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau is a partner of the project.

POLIN Museum gets EU Prize

The Europa Nostra Awards are given by the European Commission and Europa Nostra, a federation of NGOs from 40 European countries dealing with cultural heritage. The POLIN Museum was honoured in the ‘Education, training and awareness raising’ category for its educational programme focusing on Jewish cultural heritage.
Litzmannstadt Ghetto Model

Today traces of the former Litzmannstadt Ghetto are still present in the city of Łódź, but not all inhabitants are aware of the history of the ghetto. In 2015, the Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź undertook a project called "Litzmannstadt-Getto Model" to create a 3D representation of the area where the ghetto stood. The project is co-funded by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance as part of its grant programme.
