On 22 April the Hungarian Embassy in London organized a panel discussion in the House of Lords to mark the handover of the Chairmanship of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) from the UK to Hungary.
The IHRA Chair Szabolcs Takács, said that Hungary endeavours to put combating antisemitism, promoting Holocaust education and remembering the genocide of the Roma at the centre of its IHRA programme. Vivian Wineman, President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, former IHRA Chair Sir Andrew Burns and Baroness Decch also addressed the audience. The full text of IHRA Chair Szabolcs Takács's speech can be read here.
The speeches were followed by a frank and open Q&A with the audience and a reception at the Embassy. Members of the House of Lords, Britain’s Jewish community, Hungarian Holocaust survivors and ambassadors attended both events.
