After extensive consultations, the ITF Chair has authorized the ITF's Permanent Office to transmit the following statement:
In recent weeks, certain individuals and institutions have publically questioned Norway's suitability to chair the "Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research (ITF)". The reason for this is Norway's commemoration this year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nobel Prize winner Knut Hamsun.
At the 2009 G8 Summit in Aquila, Italy, the G8 Leaders issued the following Declaration:
"We condemn the declarations of President Ahmadinejad denying the Holocaust."
Professor Yehuda Bauer, Israel, was awarded the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit by His Majesty King Harald the Fifth of Norway during the meetings of the Holocaust Task Force (ITF) in Oslo 22 - 25 June 2009.

In his opening speech to the plenary (Oslo, 24 June 2009), Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre urges the ITF to put combating Holocaust Denial and anti-Semitism on its agenda.
