Teaching the Holocaust through Art

15.12.2015

On 17 January in Manchester, the Holocaust Educational Trust will organise a day-long seminar offering teachers an opportunity to engage with classroom activities and to explore Holocaust pedagogy best practice.

The seminar will explore the work of the Holocaust Educational Trust and focus on ‘Exploring the Holocaust’, our cross-curricular scheme of work, in particular the guidance provided in our new subject specific teachers' guide 'Teaching the Holocaust through Art'.

Alongside staff from the Holocaust Educational Trust, the arts educator Caroline Slifkin will particpate in the seminar.

This free one-day Continuing Professional Development opportunity is open to teachers of all subjects, but will be of particular interest to teachers of Art who wish to explore this most challenging of subjects with their students. The workshop will also be useful to non-art specialists who wish to use art as a source which offers insights into the history and human impact of the Holocaust.
