Names not Numbers

10.06.2016

The Centre for the Study of the Jewish History in Romania initiated a project focused on the lives of the numerous victims of the Iasi Pogrom.

Throughout the whole month of June 2016, the Centre will publish daily on its official Facebook page the story of one of the victims of Iasi Pogrom. The decision to publish these acounts on Facebook was made to respond to the interest from the younger generation.

In June 2016 Romania commemorates 75 years since the Iasi Pogrom.

The project intends to raise awareness of the magnitude of this tragedy, but also to show the younger generation that the victims had a face, a name, and a life that was taken away. The hashtag used for this project is #numenunumere (names not numbers).

The team involved in this project is led by Adrian Cioflâncă, researcher at the A.D. Xenopol History Institute and member of the Romanian Delegation to IHRA.
