Conference for Holocaust Education Centers

23.12.2015

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is accepting applications for the Conference for Holocaust Education Centers (CHEC).

This four-day conference will convene in Washington, DC, from Tuesday, February 2, to Friday, February 5, 2016.

The conference seeks to leverage the USHMM’s 20 years of experience in Holocaust education, along with its resources in history and pedagogical practice, to strengthen Holocaust education in the United States. Designed for educators from Holocaust centers who train secondary teachers, the conference will include sessions on current USHMM initiatives, up-to-date historical research, research-based pedagogical trends for professional development, resources for teachers, and hands-on workshops in agenda building and program planning.

In the year following the conference, each center will plan and implement a workshop for secondary teachers in cooperation with the USHMM. A member of the Museum’s Regional Education Corps will also be selected to align with the regions represented by the centers and work closely with them to develop and deliver a workshop for educators.
