Rabbi Andrew Baker is Director of International Jewish Affairs at the American Jewish Committee. Since the 1990s he has been a prominent figure in promoting tolerance and confronting the legacy of the Holocaust in Central and Eastern Europe. He was a member of government commissions on the Holocaust in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania and Romania, and has been the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chair-in Office on Combating Anti-Semitism since 2009. Rabbi Baker directed AJC efforts in the development and construction of the Belzec Memorial and Museum, a joint project with the Polish government. He shared his experiences in achieving a maximum of protection for the mass graves on site at IHRA’s first “Killing Sites” conference in Krakow in 2014.
