Taking Back the Digital Streets

17.10.2016

On 17 October the International Network Against Cyber Hate (INACH) will hold their annual conference on online hate speech in Brussels, focussing on the code of conduct signed in May 2016 between the EC and various tech companies.

The 2016 INACH annual conference aims to facilitate the creation of a better online environment by gathering useful experience and input from experts, European and national law makers and other stakeholders. The conference will be opened by the EC Commissioner, Vera Jourova and by the EC Director Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Paul Nemitz. Panels will focus on topics such as Holocaust denial on social media and initiatives against online hate.

The code of conduct was signed between the European Commission and Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter and YouTube, with commitments to combat the spread of illegal online hate speech in Europe.
