Roma and Sinti Genocide Remembrance Day Commemorated in Croatia

On 2 August 2014 a commemoration ceremony was held at the Roma cemetery in the village of Uštica, where Roma victims from the Jasenovac Concentration Camp are buried.

Several hundred people were in attendance, including Roma from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Germany. Representatives of Roma organizations and a delegation from the city of Zagreb, headed by the Mayor M. Bandić, delivered speeches and laid wreaths.

The Roma National Council organized a commemoration ceremony on 3 August 2014 in co-operation with the Association for the Promotion of Roma Education (Kali Sara).
