The conference “Judaism and Education: Institutions, Curriculum, and Innovative Practices” will take place in Montreal, Canada from 2-4 October 2013.
Over the past three years, a broad team of researchers in Quebec have carried out an important research project funded by the SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) on the current and potential role of education in shaping relations between the Jewish communities and other Quebecers, under the responsibility of the Canada Research Chair in Education and Ethnic Relations.
This project will soon conclude with an international colloquium titled "Judaism and Education: Institutions, Curriculum, and Innovative Practices." It is supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada's Interaction program as well as the Azrieli Foundation.
The colloquium will bring together twenty conference participants from Quebec, Canada, the United States and Europe, as well as sixty invitees from government, university, school, and community milieus. Several International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance delegates will participate prior to the IHRA Plenary meetings in Toronto.
Further information can be found in the invitation (English and French) and the conference program (English and French), or by contacting conference coordinator Sivane Hirsch (sivane.hirsch [at] umontreal.ca).
