Holocaust Theatre Online Collection Launches Today in Berlin

19.01.2012

The launch ceremony for the Holocaust Theatre Online Collection (HTC) is being held today at House of the Wannsee Conference in Berlin.

The Holocaust Theatre Online Collection is a uniquely accessible teaching tool to educate a new generation about a little-know aspect of the Holocaust.

Despite unspeakably difficult circumstances, Jewish actors, singers, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, and other artists regularly performed in the ghettos and concentration camps.  The idea of the collection is to preserve an immensely valuable aspect of Holocaust remembrance through the enduring nature of art and culture, and to pass this on to future generations.

All About Jewish Theatre and the International Institute for Jewish and Israeli Culture are coming together today in Berlin to launch the HTC and to present the website and scope of its content.  Presentations will be given by the three initiators of the project:  Moti Sandak (Founder and Chief Editor), Mark Ejlenberg (Director of Strategic Development and Funding), and Professor Gad Kaynar (Chairman of the Academic Board).  Additional speeches will be given by members of the academic panel and representatives of supporting organizations, among others.

The launch ceremony will take place at the House of the Wannsee Conference in Berlin from 11:00-17:00.

More information about the Holocaust Theatre Online Collection can be found on their website.
