EUROPEAN SUMMER SCHOOL ON “PREJUDICE, GENOCIDE, REMEMBRANCE” Budapest, 5 – 10 July 2015

The second European Summer School, “Prejudice, Genocide, Remembrance," will take place in Budapest organized by the Tom Lantos Institute with the Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Education and Psychology (Budapest), and CEJI – a Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe (Brussels).

The Summer School provides information and training to place prejudice and genocide in the context of human rights and democratic values. The program is developed for a wide group of participants of civil servants, educators, journalists, and churches and civil society representatives from Council of Europe member countries.

The Summer School combines education with skills training to develop an understanding of the way collective memory of past traumatic events shape inter-community relations in the present. It employs a multidisciplinary approach that bring together Holocaust education with human rights training. The methodology uses collective memory workshops and  discussion of relevant  human rights violations case studies with pedagogical skills to prevent and counter these violations.  For more information click here.

The deadline for applications is Monday 6 April.

10 scholarships are offered by the Tom Lantos Institute for applicants from the member states of the Council of Europe. They cover the accommodation and travel costs (except airport transfer and visa fees). More details will be provided for successful participants.
