The Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies is a non-governmental organization established in 2002. A partner of numerous international academic and educational institutions, the Center’s activities are focused on Holocaust research and education. It cooperates with teachers, organizes student competitions and promotes the creation of curricula and manuals on the Holocaust. Its publications include books on the history and memory of Babi Yar (2012), the persecution and mass murder of Roma (2013), as well as the bi-annual journal “Holokost i Sučasnist’”. In the framework of the American Jewish Committee’s initiative to protect the mass graves of killing sites in Ukraine, the UCHS has provided training for teachers from the Volhyn, Lviv and Rivne districts, including a field trip to all five pilot project sites.
