The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is pleased that on Friday 18 December the EU came to an agreement on a version of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which includes a specific reference to the Holocaust.

Since 2012 the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) has been concerned with the potential impact of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on Holocaust research. While IHRA supports the EU decision to ensure the protection of personal data, the organization has always maintained that it is crucial that the right to be forgotten does not conflict with the responsibility to remember.

On 5 November the IHRA successfully concluded its second bi-annual Plenary meeting under the Hungarian Chairmanship. The meetings were held from 2-5 November 2015 in Debrecen.
