Argentina Commemorates Holocaust Memorial Day

Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a formal commemoration event in Buenos Aires for Holocaust Memorial Day.

The ceremony took place on 27 January in the Salón Libertador at the San Martín Palace, the ceremonial headquarters for the Argentinean Foreign Ministry.  The ceremony was headed by the Argentinean Foreign Minister, Héctor Timerman, and the speakers included Alberto Sileoni, Minister of Education, Aldo Donzis, the President of DAIA, Irene Dab, survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto, Guillermo Oliveri, the Worship Secretary, and Luis Alén, the Undersecretary of Protection of Human Rights.

The wide range of attendees included representatives of the Argentinean Government, NGOs, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Buenos Aires.

The winners of the International Poster Competition 2012 entitled "Keeping The Memory Alive (Children in the Holocaust)" were also exhibited at the ceremony.
