A special seminar of decision makers and leaders in Lithuanian educational frameworks is now taking place at the International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem.

The HET of Ireland will host the International Conference on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial in Dublin on 18-19 November 2010.

The conference will address the core issues of antisemitism and Holocaust denial, but will also include some academic or research challenges on the themes of denial in general, the psychology of denial and also myth. The programme for the conference demonstrates the interdisciplinary nature of the conference: Antisemitism, Holocaust denial, History, Philosophy, Legal and Ethical Dimensions.

OSCE to Hold Discussion on Combating Antisemitism

As part of the 2010 Review Conference in Warsaw from September 30 to October 8, the OSCE will look at the progress of its 56 participating States in implementing their OSCE commitments to human rights and democracy. Among the issues to be addressed will be prevention and response to hate crimes, and combating intolerance and discrimination.

Because of the Jewish Holocaust during the Second World War Lithuania lost over 90 per cent of the Jewish community. In 1994, 23 September was declared National Memorial Day for the Genocide Victims of the Lithuanian Jews to commemorate the liquidation of the Vilnius Ghetto on that day in 1943. Many events are held to commemorate 23 September in different institutions of Lithuania every year. This year different departments of the Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum host the following events which time-wise constitute nearly two weeks of the commemoration.

The Italian translation of the book "Österreichisches Exil in Italien. 1938-1945" (Austrian Exile in Italy. 1938-1945) will be presented on 12th and 13th October 2010 at the Austrian Cultural Forums in Rome and Milan, respectively.

Holocaust Memorial Day in Slovakia

Since 2001, Slovakia has commemorated the victims of the Holocaust and of racial violence on 9 September as the "Memorial Day for Victims of the Holocaust and of Racial Violence".

As the Chair of an organization dedicated to the remembrance of the Holocaust and the victims of genocide during the Second World War, I am deeply troubled to see the Roma subjected to racial prejudice, hate crimes, expulsions, and even in some cases murder.

Israel's Holocaust museum Yad Vashem says it has reached an agreement with Poland that gives it access to World War II-era documents in 34 provincial archives across the eastern European country.
