Outcome of Conference on Renewing the “Ex-Yugoslav” Pavilion in Auschwitz-Birkenau

On 4 June, The Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society of Serbia, with the support and participation of the UNESCO Venice Office, hosted an international meeting of experts on "Holocaust education and museum development in South-East Europe: renewing the "Ex-Yugoslav" Pavilion in Auschwitz-Birkenau."

The official conclusions of the meeting include forming an international steering committee of relevant Ministry representatives and Holocaust experts from each of the six participating countries, as well as two sub-working groups.  One sub-working groups will focus on strategic, technical and financial matters, and the other will look at the concept, themes and design of the joint exhibit and the collection of all related support materials.

The joint exhibit will follow four following commonly agreed themes: i) Time and Space, ii) Victims, iii) Perpetrators and Collaborators, iv) Resistants.

A further meeting of the steering committee is scheduled for October 2012.  Further information on the programm and participants of the Belgrade meeting are available in the linked documents.
