'Young People Remember the Shoah'

10.12.2015

On 9 December in Florence, about 80 schoolchildren presented their works to commemorate the Holocaust as part of the national Italian competition "I giovani ricordano la Shoah" (Young people remember the Shoah).

The works in this travelling exhibition represented the best compositions from the last 14 years of competititon, with the students acting as guides through the exhibition. Each year the winners of the national competition are commended by the President of the Italian Republic on 27 January in the Quirinale (Presidential House). Due to the growing interest shown by Italian schools and the success of the exhibitions organized in Rome in 2014 and 2015, the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, in collaboration with the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, decided to organise the traveling exhibition to showcase the best work from the past contests.

The travelling exhibition has toured Rome, Bari, Turin and Florence.
