International Auschwitz Committee Exhibition Opens in Berlin

In commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a new exhibit entitled "Staying Together:  Hungarian Holocaust Survivors Report" will open in Berlin on Wednesday, 25 January 2012.

The exhibit focuses on the experiences of Hungarian women during the Holocaust, a topic that has not been the subject of extensive historical or literary publications.

The exhibition will be shown at the Gedenkstätte Deutscher Widerstand, and is presented in cooperation with the International Auschwitz Committee, the State Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and the International Youth Meeting Center in Oswiecim/Auschwitz.  The exhibition will also be shown in Budapest.

The opening ceremony will take place at the Gedenkstätte Deutscher Widerstand on 25 January at 18:00.  Speakers include Dietmar Nietan, Member of the German Bundestag, Christoph Heubner, Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, and Dr. Katalin Pecsi-Pollner, in conversation with Auschwitz survivors Irma Biedermann and Nomi Gur in Hungary.
