The Council of Europe, a Permanent Observer of the ITF, marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2010 with a commemorative ceremony in the forecourt of the Palais de l'Europe, Strasbourg.

The Council of Europe was a moving spirit behind the establishment of January 27th as Holocaust Remembrance Day in Europe, and continues, in particular, to provide support to teachers in their preparations for the event. The Council of Europe undertakes a number of activities related to the field of Holocaust education and remembrance including the projects 'Teaching Remembrance', 'History Teaching'  and a special project on the Education of Roma Children.
