Director for Global Jewish Security in Skopje

On 18 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Nikola Poposki, met the Director for Global Jewish Security at the World Jewish Congress, Mr. Omri Segelman in Skopje.

The meeeting focused on current issues related to the security of the Jewish community on a global and regional level in view of the increasing security challenges. Minister Poposki outlined the fruitful cooperation between state institutions and the Jewish community which has resulted in numerous joint initiatives in the fields of Holocaust remembrance, education and research.

Director Segelman spoke positively of the overall situation of the Jewish community in the country, particularly with reagrd to antisemitism and the Government’s activities on the Holocaust-related issues.
